Ape are a 4 piece band hailing originally from the little town of Macclesfield, to the South of the mighty Manchester. Unintentionally formed in the summer of 2006 when Will and Gaz started sharing song ideas, Ape had soon gained the popularity of friends and family, even though the band was still only half-full. Once the two musicians had a few songs written, the search was on for the other half-band. Joe was recruited to fill the role of funky-slap-pop-meister and Gaz's neighbour, Dan was invited along to sing for the band. Ape's first gig was given to them on the back of an impromptu jam in a local pub, using a heavy metal band's instruments. At the end of the summer, Gaz, Will and Joe all went off to University. Will also took the decision to replace Dan in the band. However, it wasn't until October that Izzy showed up. The first gig with the new singer was a hurried affair, with under an hours material. After that, the band made the decision to not gig anymore until they had replenished their arsenal of new songs, along with a few covers. Then the summer came and they started to gig Manchester. Sadly, at the same time as this starting, Joe left the band for personal reasons. His role is currently filled by a friend of Will and Gaz's, Will Soutter. What happened next has yet to be seen... |
